'fortytwo' was set up towards the end of 2023 to provide high-end GPU HPC facilities to research groups within the department as well as throughout the institute. The cluster is equipped with the following:

• 20 compute nodes with 2x NVIDIA A30 GPU cards and 128 CPU cores at each node

• 2 compute nodes with 8x NVIDIA A100 GPU cards and 128 CPU cores at each node

• 160 TB NVME flash storage linked with InfiniBand HDR 100 switches

• 4 storage nodes with 32 x 18TB SAS 7200 RPM HDD per node, amounting to 2.3 PB of storage

'entropy,' the 160-seat computer lab maintained by the DS department, is used for teaching as well as for organising hands-on workshops. Each of the 160 desktop computers in entropy is equipped with:

• Intel® Core™ i5-12400 processor, 18M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz, 6 cores with 2 threads per core

• 8 GB RAM

• 1 TB HDD storage

• Ubuntu operating system
